Academic Advising Expo (4/2/09)

Unsure of what fall classes to register for? Don’t know if you’ll graduate on time? Looking for a major or minor? Have no idea who to talk to in order to find answers to your academic questions? Come to Dewberry Hall on April 2nd between 11 am and 2 pm!
Talk to advisors from various departments on campus, who will be able to provide information and advice on class and degree options. Discover University offices that provide academic services which will keep you successful and on track. If the chance to meet and talk with your academic advisor is not enough, come for the free prizes and enter a raffle to win an iPod Touch and a Nintendo Wii! Be a part of Student Government and the Academic Advising Center’s first ever Advising Expo, and put yourself back on the road to academic success.
Gunston’s Go-Bus!
No car? No problem! Gunston’s Go-Bus will begin service at 3pm on Thursday, February 5th! This is a FREE shuttle service sponsored by Student Government and the Office of Parking and Transportation. Gunston’s Go-Bus will shuttle students from the Sandy Creek shuttle stop to Fairfax Corner, Fair Oaks Mall, the Fair Lakes Shopping Center, and Old Town Fairfax. Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive Competition
- This Thanksgiving, let’s give something back to the community! Compete in the Student Government’s Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive Competition.
- Participating is simple, sign up your student organization and donate as many non-perishable food items as you can and win!
- Top Prize is $50 towards a pizza party for your organization and a framed certificate honoring your efforts.
- All donations will go to the Our Daily Bread in Fairfax.
- Food drive from Monday 11/10 to Friday 11/21 at 7PM.
The Rules:
- Must be a recognized GMU Student Organization.
- One non-perishable food item equals one point.
- The organization with the most points wins.
- Donations must be made at the Student Government Office (JC 133) and must be supervised by a Student Government member.
We will pick up donations from your group or organization’s on-campus location by request during
these times: Sunday 11/16/08 and Friday 11/21/08 from 5-7 PM.

Join the Gold Rush!
Be the first to get your Gold Rush t-shirt! The first 150 students at the Women’s home basketball game on Friday, November 14th, at 7 pm, will receive their Gold Rush t-shirt early!
The first regular-season men’s basketball game is on Monday, November 17th, at 7 pm. Student Government will begin distributing Gold Rush t-shirts in the residence halls at 4pm. The Gold Rush to the Patriot Center, led by the Mason Drumline and Color Guard, will begin at 5 pm starting in the Liberty Square courtyard. The Gold Rush will then join students in each housing area at the following times:
5 pm:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Begin at Liberty Square
5:15 pm: Â Â Â Arrive in President’s Park
5:40 pm:Â Â Â Arrive at Southside (Chesapeake and University Commons)
5:45 pm: Â Â Â Arrive at the George Mason Statue (Student Apartments)
6 pm:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â End at Patriot Center
Please note: the Gold Rush is a student-led procession to the Patriot Center!
Vote Van
On Tuesday, November 4, 2008, Student Government will be driving 15-passenger vans to and from campus and the Woodson High School polling station on Main Street. Students registered to vote with their campus address are invited to use the vans on election day. The vans will pick up and drop off at the Sandy Creek Parking Deck and Cue Bus shuttle stop. Check back to this post in a day or so for a complete schedule.
