Student Involvement encourages students and staff to think creatively. We want everyone to contribute ideas and think of new ways they may enhance campus and their experience at Mason. We offer opportunities to put your ideas into action, learn from hands-on experiences, meet new people, develop life-long friendships and gain skills that will help you be ready for wherever your future takes you!
Student Government is part of the larger department Student Involvement. Student Government shares an office in the HUB (Suite 2300) with Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Well-Being Team, the Patriot Activities Council, RSO Leadership Team, TEDXgeorgemasonu, and the DeSIgn Team. All of these offices together form Student Involvement. To learn more about Student Involvement, head over to si.gmu.edu for all the current information!
Registered Student Organizations
With over 350 student organizations at Mason, we offer a wide range of opportunities for students to get involved! Our registered student organizations (RSOs) provide learning environments for students, preparing them to live in a multicultural society and work in a global community. Our student organizations are also responsible for many of the programs and events held on campus each year including social events, lectures, special events, cultural events, and conferences. And, most importantly, they offer you an opportunity to get involved and help you find your niche at Mason.
Patriot Activities Council
Campus programming is a major part of Student Involvement. With a multitude of small and large scale events happening every week, it’s hard to say there’s nothing ever happening on campus!
By educating in and out of the classroom, sharing campus wide-opportunities and providing experiences for students to develop vitality, purpose, resilience and engagement, we will create a culture where students at Mason can Thrive.
Fraternity and Sorority Life
Mason Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) is a dynamic community that has been a part of the Mason community since its inception beginning with two fraternities and one sorority, and now having grown to over 35 Greek letter organizations with a diverse population of 1,700+ students. Our community prides itself on the pillars of leadership, service, philanthropy, community, friendship and scholarship. During the year, GMU Greeks participate in a variety of events that directly reflect our core values. In addition, our members hold numerous leadership positions on campus and in our 250+ student organizations. Greeks are everywhere from Patriot leaders, athletics, Student Government and more.
Being a member of a Greek organization provides numerous benefits. Our students realize these benefits through active engagement in a community that promotes the importance of scholastic achievement, good character, personal success and balance. Being Greek is also an excellent way to build leadership experience, gain life skills and enhance your college experience.
