Maintain Mason is a Student Government initiative bringing together individuals, friend groups, RSOs, and departments all in support of keeping our community cleaner.
As a participant in Maintain Mason you or your organization will have the opportunity to serve your campus community by improving the environmental health of the Fairfax-Campus. As a part of this agreement, you will be asked to conduct at least three scheduled clean-ups for the semester at sites you wish to adopt on campus.
Eco-friendly cleanup equipment will be provided by the Student Government, including: hanging weights, biodegradable trash bags, and biodegradable gloves. Your group can checkout these items prior to your scheduled cleanup at the Office of Student Involvement in the Student Government office.
Upon the completion of each cleanup, it will be your group’s responsibility to record the weight of the trash collected, along with a brief report of your collected items, including an accurate number of the bottles/cans and cigarette butts. This is important so the impact of this program can be analyzed. Additionally, the names of the students and date and time of the cleanup should be recorded, along with the amount of time spent picking up litter. Upon approval of this application, you will receive the link to scheduling and reporting cleanups, along with more information regarding other sustainability opportunities, and instructions for checkout of cleanup equipment.
This program has been a huge success so far, so thank you for helping to protect our environment and Maintain Mason.
