Interested in Running this Spring? Here’s everything you need to know.

Every Spring Semester at Mason, students are able to run for positions in both the Student Senate, the Executive Branch, and EDC. It is during this time that students are given the opportunity to elect a new Student Body President, as well as new Senate Representatives. This section of our website is to serve as a home for all documents and information regarding the Spring 2023 Election season!

Vote in the Spring 2023 Election Here!

In order to be eligible for the Spring 2023 election and to be able to submit a Candidacy Declaration, Candidates are REQUIRED to attend at least ONE Candidacy meeting. These meetings will continue until March 10th.

“Richmond for Mason Lobbies on Jan. 26 shared their college experience with legislators and highlighted the need for increasing financial aid for Mason students, increased funding per student, and increased staff and faculty salaries for the university to be more competitive in the Washington, D.C., metro area. They also highlighted Mason’s diversity and production of STEM and workforce-ready graduates.”

Runoff Election

Patriots, the election to decide the 22nd Senate Seat will open at 12:00am on Thursday, October 6th, and run until 11:59pm (24 hours). As a result of a tie for the 22nd seat, voters will be asked to select one candidate (out of two). Vote here!

Virginia Voter Information

Election season is fast approaching. If you are a Virginia resident you may visit this page to learn more about absentee voting (including where to register), polling locations, and more.

Virginia has recently changed their laws on absentee voting to no longer require an excuse to vote absentee. If you can’t make it to the polls on Election Day or have health concerns, makes sure to request an absentee ballot by Oct 27. Before requesting a ballot, make sure you are registered to vote at your current residency.

If you currently reside outside Virginia, make sure to check with your state’s Department of Elections to see what voting options you have for this fall
